Added to Fun fleet

This bus was purchased from New York City transit Authority. This being an odd ball vin number, I had to have it. I drove it from New Nork City to my yard in California. 

When and Where did They Go?

I had this bus for many years and ran it in the Fun fleet. Just did routine maintenance, with the exception of changing out the radiator. Fun Fleet Bus #6920 was sold for scrap.

Some history on odd ball vin numbers

Why GM gave these buses a separate Vin number is a mystery. The "5310" number was completely out of context. Technically, this should have been a 96-inch model and what's also a wonder is that, mechanically, these buses were similar to the T6H-5309As that New York had also purchased. The only difference was they had standard American seating for suburban use. 


I believe GM had made up their mind to eliminate bus production, so they took little interest in keeping the Vin numbers in correct sequence. These buses were mechanically and electrically the same as the T6H-5309A, and it is a mystery whey GM used the T6H-5310A model. the basic change for these special numbers was the electrical system was changed to wiring similar to that used in RTS production. The wiring junction box was placed behind the driver which is where RTS models had theirs. Because of this change, GM had to create another model and updated maintenance and parts manuals specifically for these buses. The 5309s and 5310 were only made for New York.
